Just One Rupee for Covid Treatment
We get shivers when we remember Covid. There may be not even a single family that has not been affected by this pestilence. In a way or another, directly or indirectly, this epidemic has plagued everyone, indiscriminately, irrespective of caste, creed and class.
Dr Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli MultiSpecialty Co-operative Hospital rushed to the aid of the people who were in great difficulty and praying for help. This hospital was built by Dr Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli for the benefit of the poor, the needy and the farmers. Suryakant Nagamarapalli, the president of the hospital, developed the hospital and enabled it further, thusly, the treatment the public receive here would be remembered for long.
April, May and June (2021) were the most difficult months. This was the period when the second wave hit the State. Hundreds of Covid positive cases were being reported every day. Besides, the risk of Black Fungus was in upsurge. People who were panicked by the lockdown were confounded by the second wave of Covid. There were hospitals to treat Covid, but, treatment costs were too expensive to bear. Beds were unavailable in government hospitals and they cost thousands of rupees a day in private hospitals.
In this hope-shattered environment, Shri Suryakant Nagamarapalli initiated a Covid Care Center, which provided Covid treatment for just one rupee.
The Covid Care Centre was initiated by Shri Suryakant Nagamarapalli in Vande Mataram School, Teachers Colony, Bidar City, on behalf of RSS-run Keshava Karya Samvardhana Samiti and in association with Saraswati Vidyaniketana Education Trust.
Kashaya in the morning, breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided free of charge to the patients at the centre. There also were arrangements made for hot and cold water. There was a 50-bed facility, among them, 6 were oxygen beds. There were 4 specialist doctors, a specialist in Covid-infection and nurses. There was also the practice of Nitya-Yoga and Pranayama. In addition, a national literary study was arranged. There was a 24-hour ambulance facility.
One rupee was charged from those admitted to Covid Care Center. For this just one rupee, treatment, medical care and other facilities were provided.
During the first wave of Covid, in association with RSS, food kits were distributed to 35,000 families, 1.15 lakh masks were issued and Asha workers were given sarees for free. “Funeral of Covid-infected people were done with honour and dignity by the designated ambulance and staff under the slogan ‘Jindagi Ke Saath Bhi, Jindagi Ke Baad Bhi’ from Guruparappa Nagamarapalli Hospital,” said Shri Suryakant Nagamarapalli, president of the hospital.
The Covid Care Center was inaugurated by the president of Vande Mataram School, Shri Shivraj Patil. Union Minister Shri Bhagwant Khooba, MLC Shri Raghunath Rao Malkapure, RSS leader Shri Raghunandan, the president of Gurupapappa Nagamarapalli hospital Shri Suryakant Nagamarapally, district police superintendent Shri D.L. Nagesh, Additional SP Dr.Gopal Byakode, RSS Leader Nagesh Reddy, Hanumantharao Patil, Krishna Reddy, HKE Board Member Dr Rajneesh Wali, Shri Akash Patil from Vande Mataram School, Santhosh Patil, Jaibhima Solapure, Deepak Chopra, Dr Ambarisha and other dignitaries were present.

16 Covid patients were treated successfully at the Covid Care Care and felicitated at the time of discharge. The Covid Care Center with a 50-bed facility was opened on May 7th. More than 25 patients with asymptomatic and some with mild symptoms were admitted for the treatment. 16 patients who received treatment here were completely cured. Those who were discharged were felicitated in the presence of Shri Suryarakant Nagamarapalli, the President of Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli Hospital, and other eminent leaders, Shri Shivaraj Patil Isapur, Shri. N Krishna Reddy, Shri. Nagesh Reddy, Shri Hanumantha Rao Patil, Shri Akasha Patil and other dignitaries were present.
